What Is LIFE CHAIN?

LIFE CHAIN is a peaceful and prayerful public witness of pro-life individuals standing for 90 minutes praying for our nation and for an end to abortion. It is a visual statement of solidarity by the Christian community that abortion kills children and that the Church supports the sanctity of human life from the moment of conception until natural death.

Annually, on the first Sunday in October, LIFE CHAIN invites the churches in each city and town across North America to stand on a designated local sidewalk and pray for 90 minutes. In 2009, over 1450 cities and towns held a LIFE CHAIN.

During the LIFE CHAIN hour, idle chatter, frivolity, and both verbal and physical responses to motorists are strongly discouraged. LIFE CHAIN is a time for prayerful self-analysis, repentance, and serious commitment to helping end abortion in our nation.

Accordingly, LIFE CHAIN is not chiefly a demonstration, and its witness is not intended for the viewing public only. Instead, its first goal is to minister to its own participants—to those who call Christ their Lord and hold pro-life messages that declare abortion a grave evil that defames the name and holiness of God (Leviticus 18:21).

Indeed the Church that Christ founded has drifted into cold indifference toward the sacredness of human life, and the result has been the mindless surgical killing and mutilation of over 45 million preborn Americans, plus untold millions who have fallen victim to abortive chemicals and medical neglect.

For more information:
http://www.lifechain.net/ and http://www.nationallifechain.org/

Suggestions for your prayers as we make our stand at the Life Chain:
1) our nation's elected and appointed officials promoting abortion
2) our nation's health care professionals contributing to the abortion mills
3) relatives and friends who push abortion on the mothers
4) mothers who have aborted their own children
5) all the innocent victims of abortion, those relatives and friends who fought unsuccessfully for a baby's life
6) the slaughtered innocent

Obama Administration's Pro-Abortion Record: A Pro-Life Compilation

The following is a compilation of bill signings, speeches, appointments and other actions that the current administration has engaged in that have promoted abortion before and during this presidency. While Obama has promised to reduce abortions and some of his supporters believe that will happen, this long list proves his only agenda is promoting more abortions. During the presidential election, Obama selected pro-abortion Sen. Joe Biden as his vice-presidential running mate.

MARCH FOR LIFE 2011 - HILO

WHEN: Monday, January 24, 2011 3-5:30pm

WHERE: Kilauea & Aupuni (new courthouse)

WHY: To pray for our nation in this 38th year of ROE V WADE

WHAT: This "holocaust by scalpel" that has seen an entire class of human beings (over 50,000,000) wiped out because they are 'inconvenient' to other members of society

The MARCH FOR LIFE is the collective effort of grassroots prolife Americans to assure that our laws protect the right to life of each human being. An important step is adoption of a Mandatory HUMAN LIFE AMENDMENT to the Constitution of the United States. Such an amendment would require that individuals and society provide protection for the right to life of each human being in existence at fertilization. It would require that State laws conform to the Constitution and provide the same protection.

LET US JOIN TOGETHER TO PRAY & WITNESS

About Us

Late in October 1973, grassroots prolife leaders became concerned that January 22, 1974, might come and go without properly memorializing the Supreme Court's infamous abortion decisions and without petitioning Congress for redress.

No established right-to-life organization was prepared to undertake the planning, financial and operational responsibilities for a high impact prolife March on the U.S. Capitol. But, grassroots prolifers wanted to march! About thirty prolife veterans resolved themselves into a committee and began making plans for the first March for Life.

On January 22, 1974, the first March for Life was held on the West Steps of the Capitol. An estimated 20,000 committed prolife Americans rallied that day on behalf of our preborn brothers and sisters.

In 1974, the March for Life was incorporated as a non-profit, non-partisan, non-sectarian organization.

Our numbers have gradually risen through the years despite reduced numbers from the snow in 2000 and the terrible 9/11 attacks just months before the March 2002. These growing numbers give testimony to the increasing ranks of prolife Americans and to the importance of the March's work.

The Marchers Keep Marching

The First March 1974 20,000
March 1975 50,000
March 1976 65,000
Marches 1977-1998 Up to 100,000
The 25th March 1998 225,000
March 1999 125,000
March 2000 100,000
March 2001 225,000
March 2002 100,000
Marches 2003 - 2007 200,000

LIFE PRINCIPLES

Knowing that no sound action can grow out of a vacuum of purpose, March for Life formulated the Life Principles as a forthright, comprehensive statement of the position motivating the prolife movement.

These Life Principles serve as the basis for prolife moral and legal theory by which the American people can overturn

Recap on the Family Life Issues Conference

At the very start, I wish to thank those who made this possible:
* the late Liz Shoemaker, former president of Hawaii Right to Life - Hilo Chapter, by whose personal commitment to saving lives kept this organization afloat for years, and by whose generosity the entire conference was financed
* longtime members of Hawaii Right to Life - Hilo Chapter, Dr. Steve Woo and Carol Denis - thanks to Steve also for attending the meetings, and for appearing on KCIF and KPUA stations & sharing your insights, and providing a fascinating historical tour of East Hawaii for the Hoyes
* Linda Johnasen & her mother, the late Barbara Williams & children: Barbara was Pearson Foundation's first director on this island and a legendary counselor - Linda designed and built the stage setting (Culture of Life/Culture of Death), which was dubbed by Joe Scheidler a display of "genius" - the cause of life in East Hawaii has no greater love than that provided by Linda - the children helped throughout
* Statler family: Mom & Dad's dedication and teaching have assured that the torch has been passed to the kids, who will without doubt be prolife leaders in the next generation - and helped everywhere
* DeRego family: they cooked, moved stuff, loaded, unloaded, did whatever needed to be done
* Paul & Cora Matsumoto: they housed, fed, befriended our guests - they were both Martha & Mary, attending to all the needs of our visiting globetrotters - and hosted dinners for larger gatherings - provided the necessary relaxed environment for conference headquarters
* Pete Delos Santos: a brother in Christ, Starsky to my Hutch as we visited the 35 churches in east Hawaii to invite them to the conference, and with each door that would open, the invariable exclamation would be: Pete! How are you?
* Jackie Mishler: If there is an example of devotion to a cause greater than is Jackie's to the battle against euthanasia, I have yet to witness it - from Maui she organized all of the workshops, made all of the phonecalls, set up the displays, gave a couple of workshops, drew up the tech equipment lists, and I think found time for a half hour swim!
* Carol White: God provides people like this in the prolife movement because there are so few of us that one like Carol must stand in for 20 home watching TV - she never stopped contributing all weekend in multiple ways
* Chris Garcia: a loving bundle of smiles, who drove in from Waimea, who gave more than she took but claimed the opposite
* Pastor Rob Finberg: a man of keen intellect, with a story that captured the attention of the youth in his workshop, whose closing impromptu prayer made us long for another chance to hear him at greater length
* Pastor Robb Daley: the go-to pastor for prolife in Hilo, a prayerful man of zeal and purpose

Our conference was successful beyond expectations, if measured by the impact on those of us who attended, especially those of us who were able to spend time touring, talking, sharing meals, praying, in the week that our presenters were here. [MORE TO WRITE AS THE WEEK GOES BY]

Abortionist Killed: National News -- Abortionist Kills Woman: Ignored

6/18/2009 By Valerie Mosher Pfeil

Abortionist George Tiller's death brought an outpouring of national media headlines and Congressional condolences to his family by a resolution approved by the US House. Laura Hope Smith's death at the hands of an abortionist was and continues to be ignored and her mother's effort to bring it to the attention of her senator was stonewalled.

"Where was the press when my daughter Laura died at the hands of an abortionist?" asks Eileen Smith, Laura's mother. A media search shows mostly news reports from nonprofit organizations, religious news and other alternative media.

Laura's death was mentioned 10 months later in one major publication, The Boston Globe, when the abortionist was indicted for manslaughter. It was 6 weeks before her local paper, The Cape Cod Times, mentioned Laura's death, although it sought out her mother for a two-hour interview just 2 days after Laura's death. Smith says the local newspaper rationalized delaying a report on Laura's death so it could corroborate it with an autopsy report.

"Since when has news been postponed in lieu of reporting facts except in the abortion deaths of the mothers?" asks Smith. "I have to believe that it is only because the media's bias toward abortion determines what makes news," she said.

"If Laura had died falling off a bike or in a car accident it would have been in the paper the next day," she said. "My daughter walked into that abortion facility healthy and she left dead," Smith said.
Smith believes Tiller's death is another senseless killing in the history of abortion, adding to the 50 million untimely deaths of unborn babies, including the 60,000 viable babies aborted by Tiller. "His death is a tragedy, but so are all the lives that were taken by him and the lives of over 400 women who have died as a result of an abortion," said Smith.

The abortionist was indicted by a grand jury for manslaughter in the death of Laura, following an investigation by local police and the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine. The District Attorney found the abortionist's conduct to be "willful, wanton, and reckless" because he sedated Laura with level three drugs without any means of cardiac monitoring or blood pressure cuff; had no assistant who could administer sedation, monitor the patient, or assist in resuscitating her; and, "failed to timely initiate a call to 911." The board also alleged that the abortionist made false statements.

"I call on the media to report deaths like Laura's," said Smith. "If Tiller's death merits national news, so does a death at the hands of an abortionist," she added. Eileen Smith is available for interview

Pro-Life Pastor Walter Hoye Returns to Abortion Center After Free Speech Denial

Oakland, CA (LifeNews.com) -- After pro-life Berkeley pastor Walter Hoye was sent to jail following his conviction on a local ordinance that targets the free speech rights of pro-life advocates, he has returned to the abortion center where his offer of help to pregnant women led him to prison.

Hoye has been ordered by a local judge to stay 100 yards away from the abortion center, but he says he plans to provide abortion alternatives information to women anyway. In response, an Alameda County prosecutor went back to court Friday hoping to convince the judge to order an injunction using the new Oakland law, implemented specifically to target Hoye, which puts a “bubble zone” in place within eight feet of women entering any local abortion business. Alameda County Superior Court Judge Stuart Hing delayed a ruling until next month but answered attorneys for Hoye by saying he believes he has jurisdiction in the case and broad authority to issue an order against Hoye preventing him from helping pregnant women considering an abortion.

Hoye said it is clear that abortion advocates, who have control of Oakland’s city’ council, are using the law to target people with whom they disagree. "We're at a point here in American history when the system is being manipulated to impose particular viewpoints on another viewpoint," he said. Attorneys with the Life Legal Defense Fund, a pro-life legal group defending Hoye, have filed a lawsuit challenging the Oakland ordinance in federal court saying it violates the First Amendment free speech rights and a hearing on it is slated for this coming week. Hoye chose 18 days in jail over volunteer work and a probation order to stay away from the Family Planning Specialists Medical Group on Webster Street.in Oakland but Hoye’s attorneys and prosecutors say the order will likely be overturned on appeal.

Hoye says he has returned to the abortion center twice since then to offer women better solutions to abortion. During the Friday hearing, Deputy District Attorney Mas Morimoto asked Judge Hing to keep Hoye 100 yards from the abortion center for a period of three years with an injunction for people who have been convicted under the bubble law.
